The EdCom recognizes creating valued and actionable RECOMMENDATIONS that aligns stakeholders and re-direct the thinking and actions of governments will be a marathon and not a sprint. Therefore, it was important to establish some long-term goals for 2030. The plan will be to define annual goals and objectives along a structured pathway to achieve our 2030 Goals. The annual objectives will act as milestones with accomplishments presented at each SPINE20 Summit.

We have six goals to be achieved by 2030; however, we anticipate these goals may gradually evolve and tighten as we achieve our annual milestones:

• Establish EdCom as a well-funded, multi-professional and recognized think tank supporting and aligning stakeholder groups to drive education of spine health.

• Partner with established NGOs e.g., WHO, WSC et al to leverage activities, to raise the profile, value and credibility of EdCom initiatives*.

• Demonstrate the value of spine educational programs – standardized, learner-oriented, competency-based, outcome-driven programs to the differing stakeholder groups.

• Ensure evidence-based programs for the management of spine disorders are “understandable, actionable and universally accessible” for all stakeholder groups.

• Sensitize G20 / Governments to the personal and financial burden of spinal diseases on their societies.

• Publish a set of SMART Education Recommendations whose impact (ROI) is fully proven and documented, and support their distribution to all stakeholder groups.

* Be open to create “relationships” with non-spine societies e.g., European Cardiology to leverage learnings.
