class=\"card\">\n      <p class=\"lead\">Over the past six years, SPINE20 has brought together a growing international network of scientific societies, professional organizations, experts and policy partners to position spine health as a global public-health priority. Across six consecutive G20 host-country cycles, the initiative has developed 42 formal recommendations, published its recommendations in peer-reviewed journals and engaged with government, G20 and global-health stakeholders.<\/p>\n      <p>Established in 2019, SPINE20 complements rather than competes with scientific societies. These organizations remain the source of research, clinical guidance, education and professional authority. SPINE20 adds a shared policy voice: it brings partners together, converts their strongest evidence into common public-health messages and helps carry those messages into government and international policy settings. Partners retain their identity, scientific independence and ownership, while SPINE20 helps their evidence travel further.<\/p>\n      <p>This accumulated experience provides an opportunity to revisit what SPINE20 has achieved, learn from the past and define its future. The challenge now is to translate six years of credibility, recommendations and relationships into sustained policy influence, practical implementation and measurable improvements in spine health.<\/p>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n<section style=\"padding-top:0;\">\n  <div class=\"wrap\">\n    <h2 class=\"sect\">Why the 2026 Strategic Summit Is Different<\/h2>\n    <div class=\"card\">\n      <p>The New York meeting is intentionally designed as a working Strategic Summit rather than a conventional scientific meeting. Its purpose is not simply to produce another standalone recommendation paper. Participants will consider how SPINE20 should be governed, which policy routes deserve sustained attention, which partnerships can help deliver change and what financial and operational capacity will be required.<\/p>\n      <div class=\"callout\">Expected result: a clearer organizational and strategic architecture with agreed priorities, responsible leaders, timelines and measurable indicators of progress.<\/div>\n      <div class=\"callout-blue\">The broader SPINE20 strategy includes eight interconnected pillars: Advocate, Enable, Educate, Innovate, Empower, Finance, Collaborate and Strengthen. Given the focused working format of the 2026 Summit, four pillars have been selected for detailed discussion and immediate strategic action.<\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n<section style=\"padding-top:0;\">\n  <div class=\"wrap\">\n    <h2 class=\"sect\">Four Pillars for Immediate Strategic Action<\/h2>\n    <div class=\"pillars-grid\">\n      <div class=\"pillar\">\n        <div class=\"head\"><span class=\"num\">1<\/span><h3 class=\"name\">Advocate<\/h3><\/div>\n        <div class=\"sub\">A clearer route from evidence to decisions<\/div>\n        <p>SPINE20 must translate its evidence-informed recommendations and Calls for Action into sustained policy influence and measurable public-health impact. The Advocate Pillar will define priority audiences, sharpen SPINE20&#8217;s policy messages and establish practical pathways for engagement with G20 host-country institutions, ministries of health, WHO-related initiatives and other international decision-makers.<\/p>\n        <p>The immediate priority is to move beyond publication as the principal measure of advocacy. The Summit will consider a focused host-country policy ask, a more permanent pathway for engagement with the World Rehabilitation Alliance and relevant WHO initiatives, and a clearer system for documenting policy interactions, follow-up and outcomes.<\/p>\n        <ul>\n          <li>Define a limited number of clear, evidence-informed policy asks and priority audiences.<\/li>\n          <li>Develop sustained pathways to G20, government, WHO and global-health decision-making forums.<\/li>\n          <li>Track advocacy activity, policy uptake and impact using practical indicators.<\/li>\n        <\/ul>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class=\"pillar\">\n        <div class=\"head\"><span class=\"num\">2<\/span><h3 class=\"name\">Collaborate<\/h3><\/div>\n        <div class=\"sub\">Focused alliances that convert shared priorities into action<\/div>\n        <p>SPINE20 has relationships with more than 38 national and international organizations, but its future impact will depend on deeper, more purposeful and more diverse partnerships. The Collaborate Pillar will build a coordinated, multidisciplinary and globally representative network spanning scientific and professional societies, rehabilitation and primary care, patient organizations, public-health leaders, researchers, policymakers, funders and implementation partners.<\/p>\n        <p>Rather than attempting to engage every possible stakeholder at once, SPINE20 will prioritize a limited number of high-impact relationships according to strategic alignment, policy influence, implementation capacity and contribution to shared objectives. Early priorities include structured engagement with the World Rehabilitation Alliance and relevant WHO rehabilitation initiatives, stronger patient and LMIC participation, and partnerships capable of supporting policy, implementation, evaluation and capacity-building work.<\/p>\n        <ul>\n          <li>Map and prioritize strategic partners, with clear relationship ownership and governance.<\/li>\n          <li>Co-design practical policy, implementation, evaluation and knowledge-exchange initiatives.<\/li>\n          <li>Monitor partnership diversity, activity, outcomes and sustainability through defined indicators.<\/li>\n        <\/ul>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class=\"pillar\">\n        <div class=\"head\"><span class=\"num\">3<\/span><h3 class=\"name\">Finance<\/h3><\/div>\n        <div class=\"sub\">Sustainable and transparent capacity to deliver<\/div>\n        <p>SPINE20 requires a sustainable financial model that can support work throughout the year while protecting its independence, credibility and scientific integrity. The Finance Pillar will review the current summit-dependent model, clarify the resources needed to deliver the agreed strategy and assess realistic options for diversified funding and operational support.<\/p>\n        <p>The Summit discussion will distinguish the strategic decisions that must be made now from detailed organizational proposals that require further governance review. It will consider the need for an appropriate legal and financial structure, a professional but proportionate operational model, transparent accountability and a diversified funding base that does not allow any single supporter to influence SPINE20&#8217;s priorities or policy positions.<\/p>\n        <ul>\n          <li>Agree the core financial and operational problem SPINE20 needs to solve.<\/li>\n          <li>Cost the priorities emerging from the Strategic Summit and define phased resource needs.<\/li>\n          <li>Explore diversified funding, transparent oversight and safeguards for independence.<\/li>\n        <\/ul>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class=\"pillar\">\n        <div class=\"head\"><span class=\"num\">4<\/span><h3 class=\"name\">Strengthen<\/h3><\/div>\n        <div class=\"sub\">Governance, leadership and organizational continuity<\/div>\n        <p>SPINE20 must establish governance, leadership, accountability and operational arrangements that can sustain its mission beyond individual Summit cycles. The Strengthen Pillar will examine how decisions are made, how responsibilities are assigned, how progress is reported and how leadership continuity can be protected as the initiative enters its next phase.<\/p>\n        <p>The working sequence will move from goal and SWOT assessment to priority gaps, governance options, consensus and action. Discussion will include impact reporting, an appropriate legal pathway, clearer interfaces between committees and pillars, and a credible process for succession and organizational support. The purpose is to establish principles and next steps, with detailed structures developed through due process and Executive Board oversight.<\/p>\n        <ul>\n          <li>Clarify governance roles, decision rights, accountability and reporting.<\/li>\n          <li>Establish practical mechanisms for continuity, succession and work between Summits.<\/li>\n          <li>Define the pathway for evaluating legal and operational options and bringing recommendations forward for approval.<\/li>\n        <\/ul>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n<section class=\"closing\">\n  <div class=\"wrap\">\n    <h2 class=\"sect\">From Strategy to Implementation<\/h2>\n    <p class=\"lead\">The four pillars are distinct but inseparable. Strong governance enables credible advocacy; purposeful partnerships extend SPINE20&#8217;s reach and implementation capacity; and sustainable finance provides the resources required to deliver and measure the work. Together, they form the organizational foundation for SPINE20&#8217;s next phase.<\/p>\n    <p>Each Pillar Symposium will seek to agree clear objectives, priority actions, leadership and accountability, realistic timelines and measurable indicators. The final Summit discussion will consolidate these outcomes into a phased post-Summit workplan, identifying what SPINE20 should commit to doing next, who should lead and how progress should be reviewed.<\/p>\n    <p>Although the 2026 Strategic Summit will concentrate on Advocate, Collaborate, Finance and Strengthen, all eight strategic pillars remain essential and interconnected.
